Emily accumulated tens of thousands of dollars in medical debt, leaving her uncertain about how to manage it before joining MDL’s program. Several of her debts included a co-applicant.
MDL’s Intervention
The legal team at MDL contacted her for the necessary documentation and evidence to attempt to validate her debts. The initial paperwork received did not meet the Federal requirements necessary to collect the debt. Upon further review, it was found that the account number for the debt was missing from the documentation. MDL requested the proper paperwork again from the Original Creditor.
The Original Creditor responded that the debt could not be found, thus it was “canceled.” They are required to report to the three major Credit Bureaus- TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian-to remove all records of the debt.
MDL successfully invalidated this individual debt due to the Original Creditor’s inability to provide the necessary information to validate the debt.
Successful Resolution
We informed Emily of the successful results. Her debts had been an enormous financial and emotional burden. MDL unenrolled the invalidated debt from our program as no further service was necessary. As a result, Emily’s monthly payments decreased significantly.
